How to Join

Prospective members interested in joining the European Association of Independent Research Providers (Euro IRP) can download a Member Application form from the website. Member Applications can be sent by e-mail to sue.westwood@euroirp.com with supporting information and documentation.

Which Member Category?

Euro IRP membership is divided into four member categories; Independent Research Provider, Expert Network, Affiliate Member and Sponsorship. Information about our different member categories is detailed below. Please ensure that the correct Member Application form is completed for the most appropriate member category.

Independent Research Provider Category

Euro IRP exists to represent the interests of the European Independent investment research industry. Most of its members specialise in providing investment research to the fund management industry, but it is open to firms who currently provide investment research into other markets but who are interested in developing a fund management client base.

A Certified Provider Member must attest that they do not derive their revenue primarily from investment banking, underwriting or corporate broking, proprietary trading or market making, management consultancy services for clients other than investors, or from companies that were the subject of this research.

Prospective members are asked to attest that the:

  1. Applicant is not in the business of providing investment banking services or management consulting services to publicly-traded companies
  2. Applicant is not affiliated with, or a subsidiary of, any entity that provides investment banking services or management consulting services to publicly- traded companies
  3. Applicant’s primary revenue source is not from companies who are themselves the subject of the applicant’s research coverage
  4. Applicant is in good standing with all relevant regulatory authorities
  5. Applicant is not operating an Expert Network Business

To become an Independent Research Provider member please fill out the member application form.

Member Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors for consideration in accordance with the conditions of the membership application form.

Expert Network Category

Applicants from Expert Network Businesses must meet the Member Acceptance Criteria for the Expert Network member category as follows:

  1. Applicant’s client base must be predominately buy side
  2. Applicant has a maximum of 25% non-buy activity
  3. Applicants must manage their own internal research function
  4. Applicants must maintain and demonstrate compliance processes

Member Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors for consideration in accordance with the conditions of the membership application form.

Affiliate Category

An Affiliate Member may be:

  • directly or indirectly involved in supporting the growth of Independent Research working in partnership with the buy-side community and the independent research community through a combination of distribution, execution and operations activities, annual conferences and regular media communication;
  • be involved in policy formulation in areas connected to Independent Research.

In either case they must fulfil the following conditions:

  1. An applicant must not be in the business of providing investment banking services, or company consulting services to publicly-traded companies
  2. Applicant is not affiliated with, or a subsidiary of, any entity that provides investment banking services or company consulting services to publicly-traded companies
  3. Applicant is in good standing with all relevant regulatory authorities.

Applicants interested in Affiliate member opportunities must in the first instance contact Euro IRP's member secretary by e-mail at sue.westwood@euroirp.com. All applications within the Affiliate Category will be reviewed by the Board of Directors for consideration.

Sponsorship Category

A Sponsorship Member will be involved in providing services to the Independent Research community through price discounts, distribution, consultancy, technology and sponsorship of membership events/teach-ins.

Applicants interested in Sponsorship member opportunities must in the first instance contact Euro IRP's member secretary by e-mail at sue.westwood@euroirp.com. All applications within the Sponsorship Category will be reviewed by the Board of Directors for consideration.
